Wanda Pauline Leach was born September 23, 1930 in Roswell, New Mexico to Charlie Wesley Holbrook and Emil (Thomas) Holbrook. Wanda departed this world on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at her home in Porterville, California; just seven days shy of her 93rd birthday.
Wanda spent much of her early life in Oklahoma, but attended high school in Wasco, California before leaving her sophomore year to work in the cotton fields.
Wanda moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1962, with her three young children Deb, Ronnie and Larry, to be closer to her parents and siblings, but returned to California in 1969 settling in Porterville. Shortly after her return to California, Wanda married Wesley Leach and had her fourth child, John.
Wanda held a variety of jobs in the community. She worked at Beckman for several years. She was employed by a local dry cleaners where she was a seamstress. Wanda was a very talented seamstress, altering clothes for people well into her 80's.
Wanda was a longtime member of Calvary Assembly of God, and spent the past 13 years attending Landmark Christian Center where she could be found most every Sunday morning.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, C.W. and Emil Holbrook, her brothers Othal Holbrook and Gerald Holbrook, and her oldest son, Ronnie Green. Wanda is survived by daughter, Debra (Deb) Paine, Norman, Oklahoma; sons Larry Green, Colorado; and John (Krissie) Leach, Springville, California; grandchildren Shelley (Kurt) Egli, Austin, Texas; Kristi (Carl) Sinclair, Norman, Oklahoma; Marianne Green, Visalia, California; Melissa Green, Bartlett, Tennessee; Landry and Kenzlie Leach, Springville, California. She's also survived by her nieces Joni (Jonathan) Ogilvie and Jill (Ronnie) Fleeman. Wanda has several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren she leaves behind. Lastly, Wanda is survived by her dear friends, Laura Polish and Teresa Gastelo who ensured she was always at church, was able to get to the beauty shop weekly and shared many meals with Wanda at her favorite places around town. Our family is forever grateful to you.
A Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Landmark Christian Center in Porterville, California on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery in Lindsay, California.
