Vera Teresa Mcdonell

Vera Teresa McDonell of Terra Bella, CA passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022 in Porterville, CA. She was born to Lawrence and Kathryn Clark on July 2, 1928 in Taft, CA. She was a third generation Californian for which she was very proud. The family eventually settled in Coalinga, CA where she graduated from high school in 1947. She attended nursing school in Fresno where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1950.
Vera met Robert (Bob) McDonell at a dance in Balance Rock and they were married on October 7, 1950. Vera spent over 50 years working as a nurse. During her career she worked at the Porterville Developmental Center and she was Director of Nurses at Kern Valley Hospital in Lake Isabella.
After retirement, Vera and Bob built a home on their property in Panorama Heights (near Posey, CA) that her parents had purchased prior to her birth. They lived there for over 20 years and in 2008 they moved to Terra Bella, CA.
Vera is survived by her three daughters, Kitty (Dale) Young of Bullhead City, AZ, Leah (Ron) Shiers of Terra Bella and Beth McDonell (Les James) of Porterville; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.
