Lori Lu Duckworth

Lori Lu Duckworth (Hollis), 64, of Porterville California, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2024. She was born on December 28, 1959, in McAlester, Oklahoma. She moved to Porterville as a young girl, attending local schools, eventually graduating from Monache High School. While attending high school Lori was a standout volleyball player. She went on to attend Porterville College where she completed the Psychiatric Technician program. After her graduation she accepted a position at Porterville Developmental Center. Where she worked for 35 years, retiring in 2013. Lori excelled as a PT and later as a Program Director. She implemented many of the programs still utilized today in the behavioral health community. Lori was loved and respected by her colleagues.

Lori met her soul mate, the love of her life Leland Duckworth, while working at PDC. They were married in 1990. Together they share five wonderful children and eight beautiful grandchildren. Lori's family was her life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends or all that were hungry; no one would go hungry at Lori's house. Lori was an avid hometown youth sports fan and a proud team mom to the Porterville Panthers Varsity Football and Basketball teams. She was often seen in the stands or on the sidelines at the sporting events of her children and grandchildren cheering them on. She was their biggest fan. Lori was known for her kind heart and generous nature. An amazing mother to all, "She raised a village."

Lori is preceded in death by her mother, Lou Ellen Emerson; stepfather, Larron Emerson; Father, Glenn Hollis; and infant sister, Kimberly Rose Hollis.

Lori is survived by her husband of 33 years, Leland Duckworth; Children, Simone (Sheri), Brooke (Michael), Damien (Erica), Cicely, Courtland (Megan); Grandchildren, India (James), Darrien, Aeva, Tyson, Dierra, Ethan, Carter, and Hayden; Stepmother, Reba Hollis; Siblings, Terry (Brenda), Mark (Jennifer), Glenda (Gary), Justin (Michelle), Joe (Jayme), and Lee; Stepbrothers, Tim, Tony, Murl, and Tony; Stepsisters, Tami, and Michelle; Her beloved dog, Cookie; and also, a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends she called family.

Lori had a heart of gold and cared so deeply for the people around her. She will be forever missed.

A Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel (248 N. E Street, Porterville, CA) on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Lori's memorial service will be held at Myers Chapel on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment to be private.
