Leodegario M. Lopez

Leodegario M. Lopez, 84, who had been a resident of Porterville, California for 37 years, peacefully passed away surrounded by his children on November 16, 2023, at St. John Providence Santa Monica, California.

Born on December 28, 1938, to Nicanor Lopez and Emiliana Lopez, Leodegario excelled academically, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Araneta University of the Philippines with a bachelor's degree in engineering. He embarked on a fulfilling career journey, serving as a college instructor at Mariano Marcos State University and as a banker at Development Bank of the Philippines. Upon migrating to the United States of America with his family, he pursued his licensure as a Psychiatric Technician in California, dedicating himself to many years of service at Porterville Developmental Center, where he was deeply cherished by both his patients and colleagues alike. Even after retirement, he generously contributed his time at Hacienda Care Center. His passions included indulging in reading books and news magazines, ardently supporting his teams the Lakers and the Dodgers, and cherishing his pet puppy companions Boozer and Scooter. Leodegario's most treasured roles were those of a devoted husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather. His love knew no bounds, creating a sanctuary of warmth and security for his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Iluminada Lopez. Leodegario is survived by his cherished daughters, Melissa Lopez of Los Angeles, CA and Taciana Christine Lopez Haas of Chicago, IL; his dear son-in-law, Daniel Haas; beloved granddaughter, Lauren Haas; his beloved son, Ian Lopez of Irvine, CA; his dear daughter-in-law, Natalie Lopez; his precious loving granddaughter, Paige Lopez; and beloved grandson, Parker Lopez. Additionally, he is survived by his caring sisters, Leonila Lopez residing in Florida, Lady Lopez- Espinosa in Virginia, and Imelda Lopez in the Philippines.

A Visitation and Memorial will be held among family and friends at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Rosary will take place at Myers Chapel on the same day at 6:00 PM. A Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Church in Porterville, California on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery in Porterville, California.
