Laura Ann Johnson

December 29, 1941 — January 28, 2025

Passed away peacefully with her beloved family by her side, on January 28th, 2025, in Porterville, California. Laura was born in Gary, Indiana on December 29th, 1941, to Harold & Naomi Hunt. She was the fourth of five children. At the age of nine they departed from the windy city and the family moved to Porterville California where her parents opened a corner market/grocery store named "Harold's Market" where she helped run the store while attending school and also working in the fields alongside her siblings to make ends meet.

She attended Burton Elementary School and graduated from Porterville High School where she met the love of her life David Fred Johnson. Laura graduated from PHS on June 8th 1960 and married David 10 days later on June 18th 1960, she was indeed a no procrastinator. They left Porterville that night and headed north to San Jose California where David found work at Libby's Cannery and Laura became a real estate agent for Century 21. This is where they welcomed their only living child Daura Ann Castle on December 31st, 1962. They spent 3 beautiful years up there making friends and living their best lives. However, if you know Laura she was all about her family and spending time together making memories and taking pictures of them. So they picked up and moved back to Porterville CA in 1965 to help her parents with their business "Harold's Market".

Not much longer after that they decided to open up their own kind of business and it didn't have anything to do with groceries but yet was a very successful business in what we all know as "David Johnson Swimming Pool Service" where she worked alongside David building a family business that would be always remembered as just that. She ran the supply store for many years while David ran the pool route and when they closed the store, she joined his side on the pool routes where you would often cross paths with them during their busy workdays, until they retired and sold the business in October of 2006.

She had two grandchildren that she adored beyond belief. She would have and did do everything she could for them, she not only helped raise them from babies, but they would find themselves as the years went by looking to her as a mother figure, a friend, a person where they could find love, safety and stability. Which today they are so grateful for and so much better for having been a part of her life.

She enjoyed her arts and crafts, she made birdhouses, card boxes for weddings and Christmas houses the list goes on, she was a crafty little lady to say the least, she loved taking the grandkids to the beach and water slides, playing card games with them like Uno, Yahtzee, Go Fish, and Old Maid. She would look forward to our family Sunday drives and eating Sunday dinners at "Ryan's Place", yard selling, antiquing, and working in her flowerbeds. Laura loved the holidays as much as her family and would soon fall into her taking that roll of hosting all holidays and pool parties, birthdays, weddings, graduations, baby showers bridal and bachelorette parties at their home, you name it and she had a party for it. Laura also enjoyed gambling, hitting those slot machines gave her so much joy and excitement even if she didn't win, it didn't matter to her it was just the thrill of it all she would say!

In her later years of life she welcomed her two great grandchildren, this was the icing to her cake, they shared many laughs and memories together, played card and board games, she loved watching them play sports and was just so happy to be able to be their great grandmother. She would always say before departing us I'll see you later alligator" and you'd say "After while Crocodile" and then she said, "I LOVE YOU ALWAYS" and would start blowing you kisses.

Laura Ann Johnson is preceded in death by her father Harold, mother Naomi, brothers Edwin, & Gary, sister Rae Ann & husband David Fred Johnson. She is survived by her only living child, Daura Ann Castle, her husband Donnie Castle, grandson Andrew Joseph Barnes (Hull) his husband Charles Ray Hull, granddaughter Kassie Ann Williams, Her husband Jeffery George Williams, their two children Brooklyn Ann Williams And Brayden Kenneth Williams, many nieces, nephews and cousins and last but certainly not least, her precious and beloved "Kitty Cat" Princess Doodles.
