Janet Marcelyn Jones

Janet Marcelyn Jones was born in Los Angles, California, on April 11, 1938. She passed on July 31st in Visalia, California. Her parents were Charles Letford Rainbolt and Evelyn Alpha (Helland) Rainbolt.

She attended Mt. Antonio Junior College, where she met her husband, James "Jim" Jones, Jr. After attending Mt. Antonio Junior College, she attended San Jose State University and California State University, Los Angles, where she was active in her sorority. After graduating from California State University, Los Angles, with her Lifetime Teaching Credential in 1960, she married James "Jim" Jones, Jr. They settled in Whittier, California, to start their lives together.

The Jones family moved to Porterville, California, in 1979. Janet continued her teaching career at Vandalia Elementary. Jim was a business owner of Silver Waters and Sunshine Sunrooms.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Jones, Jr, her father, Charles Rainbolt. and her mother, Evelyn Rainbolt. She is survived by her three children, Jenifer Tobie (Theo), Jana Sylvester (Johnny), and Judie Bochat (Jeff); grandchildren, Genoveva Tobie, Desiree Black, Miklynn Gunsolus, Taylor Arden, Alexandria Tobie, Jacob Sylvester, Jessica Gomez, Jaley Bochat, Jett Bochat; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Janet was a beloved teacher in the community for over 27 years. She continued her teaching career in Porterville, California, at Vandalia Elementary School, where she eventually retired in 2006. When she was not teaching, you could have found her tending to her garden or enjoying the company of her grandchildren. Her legacy of teaching is carried on through her daughters (Jenifer Tobie and Judie Bochat), her sons-in-laws (Theo Tobie and Jeff Bochat), and her grandchildren (Jessica Gomez, Taylor Arden, and Alexandria Tobie).

A Visitation will be held at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A Graveside Service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville, California on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
