Gary Samuel Goodrick, age 44, of Porterville, passed away in a tragic car accident on December 6, 2024.
Born at home in Porterville, CA, on May 6, 1980, he was the only son of Gary H. and Annette M. Goodrick. He was a remarkable soul who touched countless lives. A loving son, brother, nephew, father, uncle, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. As a Substance Use Disorder Counselor at Kings View Community Services, he dedicated his life to positively impacting others, helping them overcome challenges he once faced himself. His passion for making a difference in the lives of those in need was evident in his work, bringing him profound fulfillment in guiding others toward recovery.
Known for his infectious laugh, sense of humor and joyful spirit, Gary embodied simplicity and resilience, never allowing life's complexities to deter him. Gary's love for the Las Vegas Raiders was well-known, and he often represented his team with pride. He also enjoyed collecting Jordans and blessing others with random gifts and kind words, which brought him great happiness. At the time of his passing, he was thriving, embracing life's journey and living his life to the fullest.
Gary is survived by his father, Gary H. Goodrick of Porterville; his sisters, Jamie M. Goodrick of Visalia and Misty J. Goodrick of Porterville; his daughter, Genesis M. Goodrick of Lindsay. He is also survived by five nieces and three nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Annette M. Goodrick; his maternal grandparents, Reynaldo E. and Emily R. Rodriguez; his paternal great-grandparents, Sam T. and Rosella M. Edwards; and his cousin, Nathan Buford.
A viewing will be held at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather for chapel services to honor Gary's memory at Myers Chapel in Porterville, California on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 11:00 AM, with interment taking place at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville, California. All who knew Gary are encouraged to join in celebrating his life and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
