Eugene (Gene) William Blocher, age 92, has kept his reservation in heaven!
Gene was born in Salida, California on February 7, 1929 and departed this world on July 14, 2021. On the morning of his passing, his wife Naomi, the love of his life for over 72 years, was by his side.
Gene is survived by four children; Diana Weldy and her husband Tracy, Eugene Blocher II and his wife Karen, Melissa Puckett and her husband Bill, and Edward Blocher and his wife Dorindi.
Additionally, Gene is survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Gene was a psychiatric technician for 43 years (1950-1993), starting his career in Modesto, California and then transferring to Porterville in 1963, where he eventually retired.
Throughout his life, Gene enjoyed a variety of activities including racing go-carts, breeding racing pigeons and other birds, traveling, working on small engines, vegetable gardening and time in the desert ‘rockhounding’.
Gene had a true servant’s heart and dedicated many years of service within his church. Gene was known by many and loved by all. Friends often became ‘family’.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 @ 10am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Porterville, California. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center in Porterville, California.
