A light that shined so bright left this earth and gained his place in heaven. Emmett D Kyser, Jr. was born on November 22, 1937 and left this earth on February 14, 2024.
Emmett was born to Juanita Ming and Emmett Kyser Sr. He was raised in Tulare and met the love of his life Edith Marie Wilson and they were married on February 28, 1958. They moved to Porterville and started their family welcoming their first child, Curtis, in 1959. Then in 1962 their first daughter, Kelly followed by their last child Christene, in 1963. Pops always made sure that we were active together as a family. He was a very talented man and enjoyed landscaping yards for himself and friends. In his younger years you could see him riding his bicycle with his son and friends. Family always came first and his love for his family was always evident. Pops worked at the Porterville Developmental Center for 40 years. After he retired he and mom traveled and finally found their home away from home in Crescent City, California. They spent their summers there and made many friends that they called family.
Emmett is preceded in death by his dear son, Curtis Wayne Kyser; his mother, Juanita Ming; step dad, Harry Ming; father, Emmett Kyser, Sr.; and his very dear Aunts, Oleta McCabe and Martha Christenson.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years 11 months and 14 days, Marie Kyser; his brother, Eugene (Barbara) Kyser; his daughters Kelly (John) Speakman, Christene (James) Hayes; granddaughters, Justine Brown, Makayla Hammett, Kaylena Speakman, Kabrina Thies; and adopted grandson, Corey (Beth) Meier, his great grandson and namesake, Emmett Brown (who he always said "that's a good kid", every time he saw him or his picture); great grandkids, Wyatt and Sawyer Hammett; and adopted great grandkids, Gerald and Freyja Meier.
We will miss our husband, father grandfather and great grandfather. Pops taught us all how to be strong and how to love family.
As per his request there will be no traditional funeral service. However we will hold a celebration of his life at his daughter Christene Hayes home on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
