Dolores was born on November 22, 1931, in Porterville, California to Robert and Louise Klepinger and passed away on June 26, 2022, at the age of 90. She was a lifelong resident of Porterville, California.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Porterville Elks Lodge. Interment will be private.
Dolores met the love of her life Henry “Jiggs” Turnbo in Porterville. They were married for 62 years until his death in 2007. She worked as a waitress in her younger years until she started with Porterville Unified School District in the cafeteria, where she worked for 39 years. She retired but returned to work another 5 years as a permanent sub. She was known as the Dancing Queen of the San Joaquin at places she would frequent: Ethels, Charlies, Old Stage Saloon, The Hoot N Holler, the Rocking Horse, and the VFW in Porterville. Most nights you’d find her dancing with all her rowdy friends. She was known by the name Granny to many, but the truest apples of her eye were her grandchildren.
Dolores is survived by granddaughter, Marlayna Slater and husband Philip; great-grandchildren, Austin Slater and wife Heather, Nick Slater, and Ian Slater; great-great-grandchildren, John, Ellie, and Waylon Slater. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Louise Klepinger, husband Henry Turnbo, and daughter Linda Kennedy.
