Christopher Arribas Cabeje

June 9, 1966 — June 3, 2024

Christopher Cabeje (57), of Porterville California, entered into God's Kingdom on June 3rd, 2024, and was sent with final goodbyes from his family on June 5th, 2024. Chris leaves behind his father, Ernesto Cabeje, and best friend and mother, Conchita Cabeje. He was the instigator and oldest of three siblings, Mary Prickett, and Johnny and Tony Cabeje, and spoiled all eight of his nieces and nephews. His four great-nieces and nephews loved visiting "Uncle Chris" at the family ranch, where he embraced them each in endless hugs and bribes for kisses. He will be missed dearly by his significant other, Rachel Bastardo, who shared nine years of their life together before God called Chris home.

Chris was born in the Philippines on June 9th, 1966, and moved to the U.S. with his family at just two years old. Since a young boy, he always had a smile on his face, especially when pinching his siblings in "Mom's Volkswagen". He graduated from Monache High School and went on to work various jobs throughout his life. However, he preferred to be his own boss so he worked on the family ranch where he took care of his parents, the orchards, and animals, because, as he would say "it's his life" and he didn't want anyone else telling him what to do. Chris is well known in his circle of family and friends for having a generous heart and would do anything for his loved ones. He loved sharing stories to bring us together and had a craft for making everyone around him laugh so hard to the point where it would hurt. Chris lived a life much larger than himself and marched to the beat of his own drum and danced his heart out to country and reggaeton. Chris loved hard and with his whole soul. He will be deeply missed.

For those who would like a final moment with Chris, a Viewing will be held Myers Reception Hall in Porterville, California on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM. The family encourages all those who knew and loved Chris to gather in prayer for a Rosary at Myers Reception Hall in Porterville, California on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Church in Porterville, California on Friday, June 14th at 9:00 AM. Following the service, we will lay Chris to final rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville, California. Bring your favorite memories and stories of Chris, (we know there are plenty) to Elks Lodge between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM for reception, where we will keep his legacy alive through laughter with a Bud Light in hand. The family requests no black while honoring Chris, so please wear white or joyful colors to match his contagious laughter and happy-go-lucky spirit. We thank you in advance for joining us in celebrating Chris' adventurous and loving life!
