With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bonifacio "Boni" Hernandez Yerena, a devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Bonifacio passed away on November 24, 2024, in Porterville, California, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in 1955 in Mascota, Jalisco, Mexico, Bonifacio immigrated to the United States, where he worked tirelessly as a laborer and as a National Forestry firefighter with the Cobra Crew. He was admired for his patience, gentle spirit, and sharp sense of humor, qualities that endured throughout his life.

Boni's unwavering devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. His grandchildren hold dear the memories of fishing trips filled with laughter and joy. Known for his kindness, generosity, and unconditional love, Boni touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His impact on his loved ones is immeasurable, and his absence will be deeply felt.

He is survived by his lifelong partner, Gloria Leija; his four children: Ruben Leija (Debbie), Rita Leija (Steve), Spence Leija (Jennifer), and Monique Hernandez (Mike); and eight beloved grandchildren: Breanna, Stephen, Emily, Ruben Jr., Alexander, Benjamin, Alexia, and Gabriella. Boni is also survived by six siblings and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Maria Luisa Hernandez Yerena, and his siblings Salvadora, Martin, Margarita, and Juan, with whom he has now reunited in Heaven.

Services to honor Bonifacio's life will be held at Myers Chapel, 248 N. E St., Porterville, California. A viewing will take place on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 PM. A funeral Mass will follow at St. Anne's Church in Porterville, California on Tuesday, December 17,2024 at 11:00 AM, with interment at St. Anne's Cemetery.

Bonifacio's memory will forever live in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.
