Audrey L. Zaninovich

June 23, 1937 — March 13, 2025

Audrey L. Zaninovich, born in 1937 to Wilfred and Gladys Holman, spent her entire life in Porterville, with the exception of her college years at the College of the Pacific. An only child, Audrey grew up surrounded by love and community.

In 1957, Audrey married her beloved husband, Jack G. Zaninovich, and together they purchased their ranch that same year. She embraced her roles as a farmer's wife, an extraordinary homemaker, and a devoted mother to their three children: John, Mark, and Paula.

Audrey had a full and vibrant life. She traveled frequently with Jack, attending annual meetings for the California Grape and Table Fruit League. Beyond her life on the ranch, Audrey dedicated herself to charitable endeavors. She was an active member and past president of Las Madrinas Guild, tirelessly raising funds and support for Valley Children's Hospital, which was founded in 1957.

Her devotion to her family was unparalleled. Audrey immersed herself in her children's lives, serving as a room mother for 15 years and a 4-H leader for over 15 years. She hauled children, chickens, pigs, rabbits, and other award winning fair entries all over the county. She also managed the local carpool; ensuring kids arrived at little league, football, tennis, and volleyball games. Audrey was always in the stands, watching every game and match. After retiring to town with Jack, Audrey became a remarkable caretaker for her husband as his health declined, showing endless strength and devotion.

Audrey's life was filled with selflessness and generosity. She even took on the challenging task of teaching her mother-in-law -unsuccessfully, to drive! Alongside caring for others, Audrey pursued her personal passions. She was an artist who dabbled in fine china painting, a lover of the arts, an avid playgoer, and an enthusiastic reader. A member of two book clubs, Audrey was a dedicated supporter of the Porterville Library, holding an active library card since 1942.

Audrey will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome. She was sweet, loving, and an exceptional listener, touching the lives of all who knew her.

Audrey is survived by her children, John and Paula. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jack, and her son, Mark. She will be deeply missed.
