Arsenia (also known as “Sandy, Arsing, and Arcy”) Ganal Baptista passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family after a quickly developed heart condition.
Arsenia was a strong woman of faith, with a steadfast devotion to family, friends, and pets. She was born on July 21, 1940, in Solsona, Philippines to the late Rosamillia and Federico Ganal. She was an avid traveler to Europe, Asia, South, Central, and North America. In 1966, she moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and created a wonderful life for her family. In 1979, she moved to Porterville, California and worked for Beckman Coulter for over 25 years applying the power of science and technology to enhance diagnostic systems in laboratories.
Arsenia is well known for her generosity and compassion for her selfless acts of kindness for others. Her faith in God was at the forefront; she was an active volunteer at church, and regularly convened rosary groups in her home. In her younger years, she loved to dance and sing to her heart’s desire. Arsenia loved making arts and crafts, from cake decorating, knitting, and jewelry making, and she enjoyed giving her handmade gifts to her friends and family. In her golden years, she developed a green thumb and those closest to her regularly reaped the benefits of her passion for gardening.
Arsenia was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alejandro “Alex” Baptista, her brother, Benedicto “Benny” Ganal, and her parents.
Arsenia is survived by her three children: Janet Baptista, David (Lorelei) Baptista, and May Baptista; her granddaughter Faith Baptista; her siblings: Patti (Romeo) Esperanza, Leticia (Pat) Morales, Corazon Ganal, and Lily (Joel) Narusawa, as well as nieces and nephews. Her legacy lives on in her children and granddaughter who are devoted to education, military, and public service.
